The Race

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge

On 12 December 2022 team TWO-INNA-ROW, Darryl & Sean, will embark on their challenge of a lifetime, rowing 3000 miles over the Atlantic ocean between La Gomera, Canary Islands and English Harbour, Antigua. We will be faced with all that mother nature has to offer and we will succeed.

The race starts in:

Days
Hours
Minutes
Seconds

Highlights of the race:

  • Rowing 1.5 million oar strokes

  • 2 hours rowing 2 hours rest, 24 hours a day

  • Atlantic Ocean is 8.5km/5.28 miles deep.

  • Waves up to 20ft high

  • Burning 8000 calories a day

  • Up to 15kg weight loss

  • Salt sores from the sea water

  • Using a “bucket” as a toilet

  • Battling with sleep deprivation

Challenges that we will face during the race

Besides the daily struggles of fatigue and sleep deprivation, we will need to overcome salt sores, being constantly wet, eating all our meals out of a bag, the blistering sun with no shade available, marine life encounters and the monotony of oar stroke after oar stroke. But knowing we have the support and the backing of so many people will drive us every stroke of the way.
